Himalayan Nettle Fabric
Himalayan Nettle Fabric
Couldn't load pickup availability
This beautifully handwoven fabric is made entirely from handspun Himalayan Giant Nettle, locally known as Allo in Nepal.
The fibre is gathered from wild nettle plants growing in the high-altitude forests of Sankhuwasabha, a remote region east of Kathmandu, long known for producing exceptionally fine nettle yarn.
Allo is a wild fibre, harvested and processed entirely by hand.
From collecting the nettle bark and carefully retting it, to hand-spinning the fibres into yarn and weaving on traditional looms, every stage of production is exceptionally labour-intensive and deeply rooted in local knowledge passed down through generations.
The result is a fabric with a quiet strength and presence — breathable, durable, and rich in natural texture — reflecting both the resilience of the fibre and the time invested by human hands.
This fabric is well suited for garments, home textiles, and thoughtful craft projects that value longevity, material honesty, and slow making.
