Zaguri is a traditional Japanese silk-spinning technique in which the cocoon is kept intact, allowing a continuous silk filament to be drawn out and spun into yarn.

The silk initially has a firm feel due to its natural gum, which is retained to protect the delicate fibres during the weaving process. Simply wash the flannel in warm water to remove the gum and reveal a softer, gentler texture.
