Himalayan Nettle Loose Weave Fabric

This handwoven Himalayan Nettle Loose Weave Fabric is made from 100% natural Himalayan giant nettle, known locally in Nepal as Allo.
Compared to our plain weave nettle fabric, this version features a looser, more open weave, creating a lighter feel and a beautifully expressive texture.

Harvested from wild nettle plants growing in the forests of Sankhuwasabha, eastern Nepal, the fibre is processed entirely by hand. From harvesting and retting the nettle, to hand-spinning the yarn and weaving on a traditional loom, every step is labour-intensive and deeply rooted in local knowledge.

The result is a fabric that feels raw yet refined — light, breathable, and full of quiet presence.
Its open weave allows light and air to pass through gently, making it especially well suited for curtains, room dividers, and decorative textile use.
It can also be used for delicate garments or layering pieces where movement, softness, and natural irregularity are desired.

This fabric is supplied in loomstate, meaning it comes directly off the loom without washing or finishing.
We strongly recommend pre-washing before cutting or tailoring, as some natural shrinkage is expected.

This Himalayan Nettle Loose Weave Fabric is woven with a more open structure than our plain weave nettle fabric, giving it a lighter hand, increased drape, and a softly translucent quality.

Due to its loose weave and airy structure, this fabric is particularly well suited for interior and spatial use, where light, movement, and texture are desired.

Recommended uses:

- Curtains and window panels

- Wall hangings and textile art

- Table coverings and runners

- Light throws or decorative layers

Handling notes:

- Fabric is supplied in loomstate (unwashed).

- Pre-washing before cutting or hanging is essential.

- Expect 5–10% shrinkage, depending on washing method.

- Gentle washing and air drying are recommended to preserve the weave structure.
